Program Features
Kids Adventures has been at Takoma Park since 2013, serving over 500 families during that time. The Takoma Park program opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Takoma Park is open until 6:30 PM on all early release days and open all day on professional days. Kids Adventures follows MCPS Administration Offices for snow days and emergency closures.
The program offers sports, arts, games, and weekly clubs. Once a week, 2nd grade children are able to swim at the Piney Branch pool, located within walking distance of the school. Snack is served in the morning and afternoon, as well as homework and reading time Monday through Thursday.
In addition to our clubs curriculum, Takoma Park also features numerous specialists that visit once a week or once a month in a regular rotation. Almost all of our specialists are included in the tuition price and are optional for students. Some specialists that have been featured over the years include:

- Zumba

- Basketball clinics
- Art
- Flag football
- Cheerleading
- Dance
- Drama
- Swimming
Takoma Park offers several optional field trips throughout the year and five kids night out (parent date nights). Kids Adventures does offer an overnight trip once a year but this trip is only available to students in 4th and 5th grade. All field trips are reasonably priced and Kids Adventures works with all families to make accommodations.
Price
Kids Adventures accepts POC (Purchase of Child Care) and WPA (Working Parents Association) vouchers through the State of Maryland Child Care Subsidy Branch. Click here to begin the process.
Kids Adventures offers a 10% discount to siblings and all MCPS Teachers.

Takoma Park is open daily, Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM until the school bell time and resumes at bell time until 6:30 PM.

Meet Our Staff
Site Director –Andrea Green is the Director for Kids Adventures at Takoma Park Elementary School. She has been working with Kids Adventures for 5 years. She graduated from Montgomery College with an Associate of Arts in General Studies. She is now a part time student at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) majoring in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. Her family and friends mean the world to her. Takoma Park has been her home her whole life! She is also a Special Ed Para Educator here at TPES.
Assistant Director- Linda Mitchell is the Assistant Director for Kids Adventures at Takoma Park Elementary School. She started working with children at Montgomery County Recreation Department in 1987. Over the past 20 years, Linda has impacted and changed the lives of thousands of children, most who went to daycare between the ages of two and twelve. She completed three years of undergraduate study, and earned the 90 Hour Early Childhood Education certification. In addition, she completed three years of undergraduate study at Washington Adventist University and Montgomery College Takoma Park campus majoring in education. In 2011, she received a certificate for the Maryland Child Care Credential at a Level 4, and in 2004, the Child Development Associated Credential “CDA.” Linda has a 14 year old son. Her hope is that the world would be a little better because she was important in the life of a child.
Teacher – Alize’ Parker has been with Kids Adventures for one year. She graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt HS in 2013. She is attending Prince Georges College pursuing her BA in Early Childhood Education. Ever since she was a little girl, Alize’ has always loved making jewelry during her free time. Her future goal is to become a teacher and own a chain of pre-schools. She also plans on becoming an interior designer and an entrepreneur. She is excited to begin this new chapter and to experience it with KA!
Teacher – Helen Richman has worked with Kids Adventures for 4 years. She is currently enrolled in UMD pursuing her BA in Teaching. She has received her Associates in Elementary Education. She played Shot Put and Cross Country in High School. She has also done volunteer work with a children organization in Ghana. Her future goal is to provide aide and education to families in need around the world. She enjoys working with children and she has a passion for literary art.
Aide –Marquelle Jones has been with Kids Adventures for one year. He graduated from Spring Brook High School in 2013 and received his BA in Business Management at Globe Tech NY in the beginning of 2017. Throughout his high school and college years, Marquelle played football and volleyball, he also cheered for a year in high school. Marquelle is a former Montgomery County Police Explorer and today he is a personal trainer and football coach! He has coached K-8th grade and now he is coaching football to his son and high school teams. His future goal is to open up his own gym and his hobbies are playing video games and writing poetry.
Aide – Daisy Villavicencio is brand new at KA, she started at the beginning of the school year. She loves being active and outdoors and brings a warm smile to the center. KA loves Daisy!
