Kids Adventures Academy at Wheaton Woods

Established in 2015, Kids Adventures Academy at Wheaton Woods has been dedicated to serving families in the community. Our preschool program operates Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and follows the MCPS Administration Office schedule for snow days and emergency closures. We welcome children ages two to five years old.

Curriculum
Our program follows The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that emphasizes exploration and discovery as core methods of learning. This approach helps children develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills that will last a lifetime.

Enrichment and Activities
In addition to our core curriculum, Kids Adventures Academy offers a variety of enriching activities, including monthly music, Spanish, sign language, yoga, Soccer Shots, and in-house special events. Most of our specialist-led activities are included in the tuition price and are optional for children. Our four-year-old classroom enjoys a monthly field trip during the school year, and we host special family events every month.

Transition Support
We understand the importance of supporting children and their families through transitions. Kids Adventures Academy works closely with Wheaton Woods Elementary School to provide the best transitional assistance for our students. As part of our support, we organize visits to a kindergarten classroom for children transitioning to kindergarten. Parents are also invited to meet the principal of Wheaton Woods Elementary School at one of our parent events.

Schedule of Operations for Preschool Programs

Snacks

At Kids Adventures, we provide a light breakfast and two healthy snacks each day. Our light breakfast options vary and include cereal, bagels with cream cheese, hot oatmeal, oatmeal bars, pancakes, boiled eggs, and yogurt. For both morning and afternoon snacks, we offer a fresh fruit or vegetable paired with cheese or a dry snack. Snacks change daily to keep things interesting and nutritious.

Meet Our Staff

Thushari (Shari) Manukulasuriya|Director She has been with Kids Adventures for three years. She was born in Sri Lanka and in 2000 she migrated to the United States. Ms. Thushari is fluent in Sinhalese and English. She has over 14 years of experience in Early Childhood. She has volunteered at Montgomery County Public Schools for over 12 years. Ms. Thushari was recognized for completing more than 1,000 hours in a school year (multiple years). She is State of Maryland Preschool Teacher Qualified. MSDE Credential Level 1. She is a mother of two daughters, ages 24 and 14.

Zewde (ZeZe) Gebre| Assistant Teacher She has been with Kids Adventures for over four years. Ms. Zewde was born in Ethiopia and moved to Maryland in 2001. She is State of Maryland Preschool Teacher Qualified. MSDE Credential Level 1. She is a mother of two.
